Literature: Shaping Our Future
How does literature shape our future? First, let's define the word literature. Literature is the historical development of writings in prose or poetry which attempts to provide entertainment, enlightenment to the reader, and to the observer. It refers to the different forms of writings such as legend, songs, stories, and many more. Literature is always connected to the life of the people, on how they live, how they act in every situation. Literature is also a way of communicating oneself to the other. In other words, literature influences the minds of readers of different ages.
When the Americans colonized our country, literature is being colonized. It is also affected.
Their ways of living their life or their lifestyle and their language were impart to us. We learn things from them.
We learn how to speak using their english language which is current use up to now in our country. And that contribution will be inherited to our next generation. Not only the Americans colonized our country, even Spanish did the thing but it just gives us bad negative sights about it. We don't have a good relationship with the Spanish. We were against on how they lead our country and how they treat Filipinos that time. We fight by using a weapon which is writing a poem that contents bad behavior of spanish. And it made spaniards to feel furious about what Filipinos wrote about them. One of these people who made the same idea and lead to do a thing is Jose P. Rizal. He wanted to use it as a weapon instead of using itak. Many Filipinos were influenced to do the same thing.
But in the end, we accomplished our goal "FREEDOM" from the hands of the Spaniards. For me, literature is already tied in our life. It reminds us how Filipinos became heroes. They give their lives just for the sake of our beloved country. And because of these great history it inspires us to do a good thing to our fellowmen. And because of literature we can build up a good future not only to ourselves but also for everyone.
